Miesjeta is by far the largest continent on Eryobis and is in fact as large as the combined landmasses of Eurasia and Australia of old Earth.
It is so large in fact that it would almost classify as a supercontinent if it weren't for the requirement that a supercontinent needs to contain at least 75% of the worlds continental landmass, which it does not.
Regardless, the sheer size and position of Miesjeta means that it stretches from the antarctic circle to 27° northern latitude. As such, almost every climate zone of the Köppen climate classification can be found somewhere within its borders.
An ecological effect of its immense size is that roughly 50% of Miesjeta's land is arid desert.
Miesjeta is also a composite continent, comprised of multiple smaller landmasses that "recently" smashed together to form the giant we see today. Due to to this, Miesjeta has several tall mountain ranger that divide and isolate its subcontinents from each other.
Our researchers have identified and split Miesjeta in three major subcontinents:
Bloëca in the north and center, Azchèda in the southwest and Lotharca in the southeast.
While some argue that Bloëca itself should be further divided in other subcontinents because of its size and many perceived barriers, geological and biological evidence suggests that Bloëca has been more or less connected to its various landmasses for many millions of years, while Azchèda and Lotharca "recently" collided with it and are even more isolated.
All the subcontinents have their own unique features and charms, but none are as uniquely looking as Lotharca.
Nicknamed the "darklands" by many explorers, Lotharca is well known for its pitch black soil and rocks. In fact, much of the upper crust of Lotharca is pure obsidian.
Lotharca also has an enormous, almost perfectly straight gorge running through its middle that stretches nearly a third of Eryobis' diameter. This canyon is known as the World Scar. This impressive geological feature doesn't seem to have been formed by tectonic activity, but rather seems as if something cut across the surface.
Curiously, the entire structure is made out of obsidian and, perhaps even stranger is the fact that the obsidian layer seems at its thickest surrounding the World Scar, with seismic scans suggesting it goes nearly 3 km deep.
