Tolf Opinell-γ, better known as Peirnovar, is perhaps the most famous world in the imperium save for old Earth itself. It was the second planet to be discovered that housed lifeforms prior to humanity's arrival. It is slightly larger than Earth and has about 8% more mass.
Perhaps the most frightening aspect of Peirnovar is the fact that its life, despite being extraterrestrial, is not in fact alien. Rather, all life on the planet descends from terran organisms. The molecular clock suggests that terran and Peirnovari lifeforms split somewhere in the geological period of Earth known as the Silurian, more than 400 million standard years ago.
While this revelation was wonderful news because humans would be able to properly interact with Peirnovari organisms, contrary to the aliens Tophetos, it also came with the terrible realization that there had been other star faring beings, creating worlds and seeding them with life, many eons ago.
Imperial government officials were aware of the alien space station orbiting Proxima Centauri and were able to deduce that Peirnovar had likely been created by the very same beings based on genetic tests of lifeforms found on both. But most of the public had forgotten about that station or never even knew about it in the first place.
For that reason, the vast majority of imperial citizens believes Peirnovari lifeforms to be aliens whose biology is simply more compatible with our own than those of Tophetos.
Peirnovar is the current capital world of mankind's empire. Most were told that this was decided because the atmospheric conditions of Peirnovar are nearly identical to those of old Earth and that it was far cheaper to simply build cities on Peirnovar without the need of the fuel and energy expensive world engines needed to terraform planets. But what people are not told is the fact that ancient artifacts and structures build ages ago by those who brought life here, can still be found. Most of the megalopolises of Peirnovar were in fact built upon such artifacts.
Whether this was done to better access them or to prevent them falling into the wrong hands is unknown...
